OJT RDE Narrative Report: Week 14

Image
In Week 14, starts with the User Training & Workshop on the OVPRDE and the Proposal Management Information System. During this workshop we assisted the staff from each divisions and centers on how to use the system. To start, we first asked their email addresses in order to create their accounts. After that we started to teach them how to create articles as well as how to navigate the system. After some time, the host asked the staff to create articles so we could see whether they learned how to create one and to populate the article sections from the website. During this time, we asked each division and centers on whether they have sent the content for our website or not as well as whether it is applicable for them have this content. In the upcoming days we refined the website and populate the missing sections that needs to be populated. A plugin named TablePress is also finally being used so that adding download links in the forms is much easier compared...

OJT RDE Narrative Report: Week 13

In Week 13, starts with a sudden hijack to our domain. The domain suddenly became a gambling site and all of our hard work was replaced. But thankfully all the hijackers did is to redirect the domain instead of completely replacing all of our hard work with a gambling site. We asked the main IT department of our school ICTO to help us out recover the website. After it was recovered, we were advised to use Word Fence, a security plugin to prevent such attacks from happening again. During that we also encrypted the admin login page link so it could be easily found as well as changed all of our passwords into a really strong one. Funnily enough after some time the system was hijacked again. We asked ICTO again recover the website and then watch videos on how to use the Word Fence plugin. We used the firewall to prevent brute force attacks and scanned the system and found that there was a malicious file injected to our system, so we removed it. After ...

In Week 12, starts with a meeting Ma’am Llovido where we presented the current progress on the CMS. She gave us some suggestions such refining the departments of each division as well as changing sections in the navigation bar and in the following days we did what was asked for us. We changed the link of the “Homepage” so it would link the user to the main Bicol University site and then the actual homepage of the CMS into the “OVPRDE”. Another we initialized some account roles depending on the divisions like who is the admin, editor or the author for the CMS. We also added specific pages to the DBRCs so as well as adding a forms page for R&D and BUEMD.

Day 48 (April 14, 2025) For the forty-eight day, starts another week of continuing the OJT. To start the day, Ma’am Joy asked me to join the College Research Coordinators Meeting which was held at Hotel Lucca. For a bit one of my fellow classmates also went to join and help with the meeting. We were tasked to document the meeting as well as to have jot down some of the suggestions that was stated by the audience. We also continued the brochure that was tasked to us using Canva. Since the content was now given to us, we were able to finish most the brochure and all that is left is the flowchart and the QR code for the links.   Day 49 (April 15, 2025) For the forty-ninth day, we continued in developing the scorecard. Features such as having the ability to upload the excel sheets has been added. Although being able to actually import has not been implemented like where the contents of the file will be read and displayed on the dashboard since it doesn’t actually exist. Also, a...

Day 43 (April 7, 2025) For the forty-third day, starts another new week of our OJT and continue the CMS. To start, we had a short meeting with Ma’am Llovido and Sir Cedric and check on the progress of the CMS. I also found a plugin that would dynamically display the articles from the article pages. The Post Grid is the name of the plugin and it helped with the design/layout of these pages even if you are using Elementor. I also realized we could also add this to the homepage so we could finally dynamically display the article cards and the featured article instead of just making it static and change it one by one for every new article post. It actually worked, and it dynamically displayed the articles. Since there still no actual articles posted, we just made test articles to check whether the plugin would help us or not   Day 44 (April 8, 2025) For the forty-fourth day, as usual we still continued creating pages for the CMS. For this day we finally started to add the artic...

Day 40 (March 31, 2025) For the fortieth day, starts another week of continuing the OJT. Not much has happened for the day but we still continued in updating the CMS. For this day we adjusted some of the sections in the Division Pages which are the RDMD, PKMD, IPMD, EMD and the centers. Instead of creating about us pages for each of the sub-divisions we just thought of adding it into to the main division pages so that it be easily seen and navigated since it is just an About Us section. Since the next day after this is a holiday, the OJT will resume on Wednesday.   Day 41 (April 2, 2025) For the forty-first day, we continued in adding content in the CMS. But for this day we worked from home and continued our tasks. There was a memo from the previous day that we will have to work from home since there will be a power outage for the whole work day. In order for us to easily communicate with our fellow mentees in this day, we just hopped on our Discord and did a voice c...

Day 35 (March 24, 2025) For the thirty-fifth day, starts another new week of our OJT. We focused on creating the web pages into WordPress. I based from what I have learned from watching some video tutorials about it I start to get the gist of it. For me I created the Hero Section as well as the header for the web pages so it looks and feel like the official Bicol University website. I still think coding the system is much better since you have a lot more freedom on what you want the website to be even if it might take a while. The website would look a lot more barebones and a lot less user-friendly even to us, since you are just using the free versions of WordPress as well as the downloadable plugins.   Day 36 (March 25, 2025) For the thirty-sixth day, as usual we still continued creating web pages with the use of WordPress. We created more web pages and started to work out on how the roles work in WordPress. We have created some sections like the contact us, FAQs an...

Day 29 (March 17, 2025) For the twenty-ninth day, starts another new week of the OJT. As usual, we continued in developing the system albeit it’s just minor changes. Some changes were done for the buttons in the Admin Profile section because it was too big so things were changed there. Another adding some placeholders in the footer section of the website which is just similar to the official Bicol University Website. Some of us were called by one of our mentors to help with some prep like PowerPoint templates etc. They were also asked to go to the Main University to easily monitor the tasks that were given to them.   Day 30 (March 18, 2025) For the thirtieth day, as usual we still continued the system development as well as some other tasks given to us by one of our mentors. At the start we just did some minor changes at the footer which to align it properly. After that we were asked to help with the dry run of the Zoom Meeting for upcoming In-House Meeting. One of us will ch...

Day 24 (March 10, 2025) For the twenty-fourth day, another week of continuing the OJT. As usual we continued in developing the system. We first decided to go into the conference room instead since it is a place where we can actually talk freely compared to the office space. I did UI adjustments on the Login Forms as well as code the design of the Forgot Password Page. We also organized the assets that we used in the system like images and such. We arranged it depending on the page so that we can easily find it whenever we update or change the assets that we used.   Day 25 (March 11, 2025) For the twenty-fifth day, another day in continuing the development of the system. For that day we finished coding the Hero Section which has a carousel. Also, we populated some sections in the Navigation Menu. For this day we started to use a project management web app to properly assign and monitor our tasks that we will have to do for the system. We used Plane as our project manager app...

Day 19  ( March 3 , 2025) For the nineteenth day, starts a new week of OJT. For this day what we did is to continue the development process, but now we start in coding the CMS. We used Laravel as our framework and as well as use React which will be used for our front-end. We already did the first web page which is the Landing Page. We pretty much copied what was designed from the prototype in Figma. Also, for us to easily collaborate on what changes we can add is to use Github. We created a separate fork so could add change or sync up any changes that has been made from the system. So, that how the week starts for now.   Day 20  (March 4, 2025) For the twentieth day, and another day in continuing the development of the system. We polished some thing in the landing page as well as add custom color names to easily call the colors we had in Figma with Tailwind instead of just manually calling its hex code. Another is trying to design the profile page in Figma which i...

Day 14 (February 24, 2025) For the fourteenth day of our OJT it is the same as usual as the previous day. Another week has come and we have continued what we have started. One of my fellow OJT went to a tournament because it would be a waste not to join because of the prize pool. The rest of us just continued by scanning and printing the documents the we needed to do along with our fellow OJT students from CSSP. After the tournament, he still went back and joined us in the afternoon to continue.   Day 15 (February 25, 2025) For the fifteenth day, and another day for doing clerical work. It is a continuation of the current work that we have been doing from the previous day. We have been printing documents while the CSSP students were scanning the documents. At the afternoon we are doing some double checks on whether the certificates or abstracts have been printed. After that the CSSP student did an overtime to continue the work since the deadline is pretty near. ...

Day 9 (February 17, 2025) For the ninth day of our OJT is pretty much the same as last time. We scanned documents but in the that day we also talked with Ma’am Llovido about the system again for a bit an what we should do and did a mockup layout on the CMS that we will do. We also did our mentorship plan in order to finally finalize the general overview on what will be our tasks for the whole on-the-job training. So that’s pretty much what we did for that day.   Day 10 (February 18, 2025) For the tenth day, we scanned documents as usual so for the first half of the day we scanned documents that sir Russ gave us. There are also OJT students coming from CSSP that came here in RDE and Ma’am Llovido asked us to introduce ourselves since we might we meet each other even though will be assigned to other areas in RDE. Nearing lunch time, we had a meeting with the mentors together with the staff and the CSSP OJT students and present the general layout of the CMS. Suggestions were g...

Day 5 (February 11, 2025) For the fifth day of our OJT is pretty much the same as last time, we just scanned the documents that was given to us. Although now, it is pretty much the big folders now where it has the big researches. It has been somewhat confusing to organize it since we might get some duplicates because of the receiving documents. We finally talked to Ma’am Llovido on what to do with the system about refactoring it and she said that it we could it, but we still need to need to ask the previous for the OJT students since they are the ones that developed it. For the next day we will be having a Google Meet to discuss about that matter.   Day 6 (February 12, 2025) For the sixth day, we only scanned documents and ask the previous batch on what to do about the system. For that day we also asked Ma’am Joy about the refactoring of the system and she stated that it is feasible but that problem is that they still need to follow a deadline on finishing the system...

Day 1 (February 3, 2025) For the first day of our OJT is sort of the orientation or the general overview on what the system is like. The mentors Ma’am Llovido and Ma’am Joy Canon and some of the professors in the RDE asked us to join over the orientation. The previous batch of OJT students was also that orientation to present the system that they have developed to the professors and to us. We were overloaded with information since there were a lot of features, as well as the process in the approval of the research in that system. After the orientation Ma’am Joy and Sir Russel told us some of the tasks we can do during the OJT. So, for this day it is just the overview of system as well as meeting up with the previous batch of OJT students in RDE.   Day 2 (February 4, 2025) For the second day, things have pretty much slowed down. We still have not finalized what our tasks will be put in the mentorship plan. So, what we did during the day is ask Sir Russel on what files we can...
