On-the-Job Training Blog: Week 7

Day 29 (March 17, 2025)

For the twenty-ninth day, starts another new week of the OJT. As usual, we continued in developing the system albeit it’s just minor changes. Some changes were done for the buttons in the Admin Profile section because it was too big so things were changed there. Another adding some placeholders in the footer section of the website which is just similar to the official Bicol University Website. Some of us were called by one of our mentors to help with some prep like PowerPoint templates etc. They were also asked to go to the Main University to easily monitor the tasks that were given to them.

Day 30 (March 18, 2025)

For the thirtieth day, as usual we still continued the system development as well as some other tasks given to us by one of our mentors. At the start we just did some minor changes at the footer which to align it properly. After that we were asked to help with the dry run of the Zoom Meeting for upcoming In-House Meeting. One of us will check the and help the technical team if some problems arise, another was also asked to document and take screenshots of the breakout rooms. After finishing the dry run of the meeting, we also added some major features that will be added to the system which is the File Manager. Users will be able to upload file into that manager but for now it is still just a preview since the file manager is still not connected to the database.

Day 31 (March 19, 2025)

For the thirty-first day, we continued developing the system and started preparing for the upcoming In-House Review the next day. I started delving into the back-end side of web development since it is one of my biggest weakness. I started how to do migrations in Laravel as well as how some of the controllers work and then connect the database into one of the components so data could pass through. I also learned in making the buttons and inputs work for the back-end side. In the afternoon we also did a dry run of the In-House Review in Zoom as well as assign roles for each of us on what do to for the next day.

Day 32 (March 20, 2025)

For the thirty-second day, finally starts the In-House Review. Instead of assisting the In-House Review in RDE, we did it in the main campus so that the technical team would be much close together. We assisted the technical team in doing various task so that the process would be seamless. I was assigned to do some documentation and screenshot some of the moments during the Zoom Meeting. Some of us other than me were also tasked to document, one in the Zoom and one in real life. Some was also tasked to moderate the zoom call and help accept the join requests. After the Zoom, we were also tasked to create a PowerPoint presentation for the winners in the In-House Review.

Day 34 (March 21, 2025)

For the thirty-third day, starts the awarding ceremony of the In-House review. We hosted the awarding ceremony in the Amphitheater at BU East Campus. We assisted to help prepare the stage by adding some décor as well as setup the sounds. Some of us including me helped with preparing the sound systems, so that the microphones as well as background music work. One of us also helped in the setting up the presentations so that the audience would see the list of the awarded winners. I think the Zoom and the Awarding ceremony was a success since there were no major hiccups along the way. After the awarding ceremony we also did a presentation of the developed system, but sadly all of the developed CMS would be scraped since it would take a while to finish as well as to maintain the system. It was suggested to create the CMS on WordPress instead and after that finish the Scorecards that the RDE needed. In the afternoon, I used the remaining time to watch videos on WordPress and how to use the Elementor plugin to familiarize myself in creating the web pages.
