On-the-Job Training Blog: Week 1

Day 1 (February 3, 2025)

For the first day of our OJT is sort of the orientation or the general overview on what the system is like. The mentors Ma’am Llovido and Ma’am Joy Canon and some of the professors in the RDE asked us to join over the orientation. The previous batch of OJT students was also that orientation to present the system that they have developed to the professors and to us. We were overloaded with information since there were a lot of features, as well as the process in the approval of the research in that system. After the orientation Ma’am Joy and Sir Russel told us some of the tasks we can do during the OJT. So, for this day it is just the overview of system as well as meeting up with the previous batch of OJT students in RDE.

Day 2 (February 4, 2025)

For the second day, things have pretty much slowed down. We still have not finalized what our tasks will be put in the mentorship plan. So, what we did during the day is ask Sir Russel on what files we can scan in order to start the digitization of the papers. We scanned it through CamScanner and put it in the Google Drive as well as the Google Sheets to jot down what files were scanned.

Day 3 (February 5, 2025)

For the third day, it is still pretty much the same as the second day. We just scanned the files that needed to be scanned. We also still need to wait for the previous batch OJT students on what to do in the database since there is an error when starting up the system. We still wouldn’t be to start something on the system until they have visited us and fixed the issue.

Day 4 (February 6, 2025)

For the fourth day, it is the usual thing as the previous days since we are waiting for the previous batch of OJT students on how to start up the server. They did chat us the solution on what we should do to start up the system. It just turns out that the allowed packets were limited that the system does not start up. We talked about what we should do with the system for its development and we are just waiting for the mentors as well as our seniors for the decision on what the development will be. In the meantime, we asked Sir Russ on how to use the scanner to make our jobs easier. It was pretty simple and it pretty much scans all of the documents in seconds. If we still used the CamScanner app, it would take us days while to finish just a whole file box but with the big scanner it just took us a day to finish it. It was also raining at the time and the classes were already suspended. Even with that we still pushed through until 5pm so we could finish the whole file box. So that’s how the 1st week went by. We did a general overview and scanned documents in the meantime before starting the development.
