On-the-Job Training Blog: Week 2

 Day 5 (February 11, 2025)

For the fifth day of our OJT is pretty much the same as last time, we just scanned the documents that was given to us. Although now, it is pretty much the big folders now where it has the big researches. It has been somewhat confusing to organize it since we might get some duplicates because of the receiving documents. We finally talked to Ma’am Llovido on what to do with the system about refactoring it and she said that it we could it, but we still need to need to ask the previous for the OJT students since they are the ones that developed it. For the next day we will be having a Google Meet to discuss about that matter.

 

Day 6 (February 12, 2025)

For the sixth day, we only scanned documents and ask the previous batch on what to do about the system. For that day we also asked Ma’am Joy about the refactoring of the system and she stated that it is feasible but that problem is that they still need to follow a deadline on finishing the system which is a big problem. So, after that, we finally asked the previous OJT students about the system, they stated that it would be a problem since they would relearn the code again plus they need to meet the deadline on finishing the system. So, we are back to square one where we would just build on top of the existing system instead of remaking the system by making it much more organized and much faster to develop. For now, the priority on what we should do in the system is the Monitoring section as well as the Reports Generation from what they stated. It would be pretty hard to build on top of it but we will still push through so the task will be finished.

 

Day 7 (February 13, 2025)

For the seventh day, we are still scanning documents as usual and it is confusing as always since the folders are much bigger now. We kind of have a flow on the digitization of the files where one scans everything and the other one is checking the scanned papers and organize it from the flash drive so everyone will have a role in digitizing the documents. Also, during the day at lunch time Ma’am Llovido visited us for a short while and we said what the previous OJT students stated about the system as well as about our plans moving forward. She understands the decision of the previous batch but she stated that she will ask someone what other projects we could do other than the existing system which is pretty interesting.

 

Day 8 (February 14, 2025)

For the eighth day, as always, we scanned documents for this day. Although for today the mentors as well as one of previous OJT students came in the office and talked about what to do in the system. Now we would do a separate website where it would have things like news and link the existing system there. We will use a separate database for the new website but still use the existing database for getting the data of the researches for the reports generation. I think this is better for both of us new and previous OJT students since they use a much different code for their system and they know a lot more on where the functions are place within their codebase compared to us. So it is nice that we would be to start a new project instead.

Day 1 (February 3, 2025) For the first day of our OJT is sort of the orientation or the general overview on what the system is like. The mentors Ma’am Llovido and Ma’am Joy Canon and some of the professors in the RDE asked us to join over the orientation. The previous batch of OJT students was also that orientation to present the system that they have developed to the professors and to us. We were overloaded with information since there were a lot of features, as well as the process in the approval of the research in that system. After the orientation Ma’am Joy and Sir Russel told us some of the tasks we can do during the OJT. On-the-Job Training Blog: Week 3

Day 9 (February 17, 2025) For the ninth day of our OJT is pretty much the same as last time. We scanned documents but in the that day we also talked with Ma’am Llovido about the system again for a bit an what we should do and did a mockup layout on the CMS that we will do. We also did our mentorship plan in order to finally finalize the general overview on what will be our tasks for the whole on-the-job training. So that’s pretty much what we did for that day.   Day 10 (February 18, 2025) For the tenth day, we scanned documents as usual so for the first half of the day we scanned documents that sir Russ gave us. There are also OJT students coming from CSSP that came here in RDE and Ma’am Llovido asked us to introduce ourselves since we might we meet each other even though will be assigned to other areas in RDE.
