OJT RDE Narrative Report: Week 14

Image
In Week 14, starts with the User Training & Workshop on the OVPRDE and the Proposal Management Information System. During this workshop we assisted the staff from each divisions and centers on how to use the system. To start, we first asked their email addresses in order to create their accounts. After that we started to teach them how to create articles as well as how to navigate the system. After some time, the host asked the staff to create articles so we could see whether they learned how to create one and to populate the article sections from the website. During this time, we asked each division and centers on whether they have sent the content for our website or not as well as whether it is applicable for them have this content. In the upcoming days we refined the website and populate the missing sections that needs to be populated. A plugin named TablePress is also finally being used so that adding download links in the forms is much easier compared...

OJT RDE Narrative Report: Week 13

In Week 13, starts with a sudden hijack to our domain. The domain suddenly became a gambling site and all of our hard work was replaced. But thankfully all the hijackers did is to redirect the domain instead of completely replacing all of our hard work with a gambling site. We asked the main IT department of our school ICTO to help us out recover the website. After it was recovered, we were advised to use Word Fence, a security plugin to prevent such attacks from happening again. During that we also encrypted the admin login page link so it could be easily found as well as changed all of our passwords into a really strong one. Funnily enough after some time the system was hijacked again. We asked ICTO again recover the website and then watch videos on how to use the Word Fence plugin. We used the firewall to prevent brute force attacks and scanned the system and found that there was a malicious file injected to our system, so we removed it. After ...

In Week 12, starts with a meeting Ma’am Llovido where we presented the current progress on the CMS. She gave us some suggestions such refining the departments of each division as well as changing sections in the navigation bar and in the following days we did what was asked for us. We changed the link of the “Homepage” so it would link the user to the main Bicol University site and then the actual homepage of the CMS into the “OVPRDE”. Another we initialized some account roles depending on the divisions like who is the admin, editor or the author for the CMS. We also added specific pages to the DBRCs so as well as adding a forms page for R&D and BUEMD.

Day 48 (April 14, 2025) For the forty-eight day, starts another week of continuing the OJT. To start the day, Ma’am Joy asked me to join the College Research Coordinators Meeting which was held at Hotel Lucca. For a bit one of my fellow classmates also went to join and help with the meeting. We were tasked to document the meeting as well as to have jot down some of the suggestions that was stated by the audience. We also continued the brochure that was tasked to us using Canva. Since the content was now given to us, we were able to finish most the brochure and all that is left is the flowchart and the QR code for the links.   Day 49 (April 15, 2025) For the forty-ninth day, we continued in developing the scorecard. Features such as having the ability to upload the excel sheets has been added. Although being able to actually import has not been implemented like where the contents of the file will be read and displayed on the dashboard since it doesn’t actually exist. Also, a...

Day 43 (April 7, 2025) For the forty-third day, starts another new week of our OJT and continue the CMS. To start, we had a short meeting with Ma’am Llovido and Sir Cedric and check on the progress of the CMS. I also found a plugin that would dynamically display the articles from the article pages. The Post Grid is the name of the plugin and it helped with the design/layout of these pages even if you are using Elementor. I also realized we could also add this to the homepage so we could finally dynamically display the article cards and the featured article instead of just making it static and change it one by one for every new article post. It actually worked, and it dynamically displayed the articles. Since there still no actual articles posted, we just made test articles to check whether the plugin would help us or not   Day 44 (April 8, 2025) For the forty-fourth day, as usual we still continued creating pages for the CMS. For this day we finally started to add the artic...

Day 40 (March 31, 2025) For the fortieth day, starts another week of continuing the OJT. Not much has happened for the day but we still continued in updating the CMS. For this day we adjusted some of the sections in the Division Pages which are the RDMD, PKMD, IPMD, EMD and the centers. Instead of creating about us pages for each of the sub-divisions we just thought of adding it into to the main division pages so that it be easily seen and navigated since it is just an About Us section. Since the next day after this is a holiday, the OJT will resume on Wednesday.   Day 41 (April 2, 2025) For the forty-first day, we continued in adding content in the CMS. But for this day we worked from home and continued our tasks. There was a memo from the previous day that we will have to work from home since there will be a power outage for the whole work day. In order for us to easily communicate with our fellow mentees in this day, we just hopped on our Discord and did a voice c...

Day 35 (March 24, 2025) For the thirty-fifth day, starts another new week of our OJT. We focused on creating the web pages into WordPress. I based from what I have learned from watching some video tutorials about it I start to get the gist of it. For me I created the Hero Section as well as the header for the web pages so it looks and feel like the official Bicol University website. I still think coding the system is much better since you have a lot more freedom on what you want the website to be even if it might take a while. The website would look a lot more barebones and a lot less user-friendly even to us, since you are just using the free versions of WordPress as well as the downloadable plugins.   Day 36 (March 25, 2025) For the thirty-sixth day, as usual we still continued creating web pages with the use of WordPress. We created more web pages and started to work out on how the roles work in WordPress. We have created some sections like the contact us, FAQs an...
